Protoje - Music with Meaning

Protoje has been an artiste that we have all heard about in the past couple years.. but in the last year and a half he has really taken off but still not getting the recognition around town.. the quality of his lyrics and the message behind his songs are top class. this is the type of artiste that can take positive Jamaican music worldwide especially now in these times where our artistes are having troubles and being banned from different countries.. two songs i recommend are "Arguments" and "Dread" two songs with very good lyrics and a steady vibe ...

This video that i am showing now, "JA" is a video that is released at the right time with all out problems in our country right now. this video couldn't have been released at a better time.. big up Protoje and continue doing what you doing...

Drake's "Find Your Love" Music Video

as much as people know or seem to think .. Drake hasn't been my good side lately as you can see from my past facebook statuses .. but this video for the song "Find Your Love" was shot in Jamaica and I thought it was going to be some rubbish just in the club blah blah blah.. but i was wrong and the video has a plot and it follows the song to the key .. it is a good video and i got back a little ratings for the man now (although i should really big up the director) ... enjoy

by the way ... that was all a hoax up above the video ... the video doesn't really make sense .. why is he in the "gully" as a tourist and a look girl from dem parts (no offense) to the gully girls ... he is just out of place in the video, is like him come to Jamaica to record then him fall in love with the don's girl? zeen ... as far as i see him shoulda just listen to the man at the start ... director still a get props though .. the video does follow the song but it just not right with the whole violence in Jamaica thing, this isn't gonna fly too well back home i can feel it ..

we all know this problem and it has been prevalent in past 10 years .. no further description needed.. 30 mins well spent .. I really don't give a F*** who sees it in Jamaica but it is something that is completely wrong and it took a Middle Eastern Media company to expose it worldwide, i hope people see this and some one or some people save my beloved country of Jamaica...

ATI, RTI, Dream Weekend, whatever the f*** it want to name

So once again summer is fast approaching and people are looking for things to do and all of that stuff .. where to go out and where to hit up, work on the summer body and all of that good stuff..

But one thing that has been taking the country by storm for the last 6 years has been the Independence/Emancipation weekend flexes. Some people have never been and some people have been every year. It is something that i would say u would have to experience at least once in your teenage years, but as time goes on you find yourself more and more out of place. Last year i went amd luckily got a place to stay (all-inclusive) and a party band for free.. but i felt that i just wasted my time even going down there.

My last experience wasn't exactly good because it was FILLED with 15/16 year olds getting drunk and making bad decisions in their lives.. but apart from that the problem i have faced every time i have been is that every party feels like the SAME thing... depending on what bad you get there are 4 parties on the weekend at the same venue, the same selectors play at all of them and the rotation of music ... quite frankly i'm done with Negril (i might say that now and still end up going) .. and no matter how much you try and avoid it the same fuckery that happens in town spills over into that weekend.. same music, same people, same drama, and BULLSHIT ... the build up to the weekend is the worst because that is all you can hear about, no matter what radio station u listen to it is the OVER KILL of commercials with the same songs being used.. you hear more of Negril Weekend commercials than music or news, its sickening...

my suggestion to the promoters, try and spice it up a little with REAL themed parties.. if u saying you going to have a soca party or hip-hop party STICK to it... try and introduce different genres of music to the people so things will not turn out soooooo repetitive .. or u kno what, just stop having that weekend, or dont have as many parties on the bands ... slowly NO ONE will want to go to Negril and i KNOW thats where most of you make your money... keep that in mind

Keida for the people

well this is one of my friends from high school days, in idling round by Mr. Bell and dem tings lol ... but Keida has been on the scene recently, relatively new to the industry she has a couple hot tracks but i think this one "Trouble" will be goodly the summer jam for 2010 ... her other songs "Jamaican Boy" and "Cyah Get Enough" have been on the radio waves and getting positive feedback... look out for her in the future as i am sure she will be getting good raves and reviews ...

M.I.A's Born Free Video - Real Stuff

This being a very controversial video and all the events that happen in it, i am not sure how much longer it is going to be on youtube ... it was released today virally and it is probably going to be banned in almost every country... the video is real because of the way in portrays the mis-treatment and segregation of the world, mainly the US government against so called "terrorists" (I hope to God i dont get in trouble) .. in the video the use red heads as the group discriminated against how they they are treated and it doesn't even matter on the age of the person... this video has a deep meaning behind it and i hope it raises awareness on how the "terrorists" are treated (if u can even call this treatment) ...

No I'm Not an Addict

Those are the first words you hear whenever someone confronts another about their addiction to Facebook or their Blackberry... i have many friends who fall in to this category (MYSELF INCLUDED) ... but im not sure if i am as big of an addict as the others :p ...

i remember the days when someone's phone number and texting was the way of communicating (not that long ago), but now its just straight BBM.. the means of having someone's phone number it was a personal thing - if u never gave your phone number to someone it was clear u didn't like them at all, no PINs are going all over the place.. everyone has about between 80-100 contacts but only talk to about 25 ... and in that 25 there are 15 that you talk to REGULARLY ... anyways back to the addict situation - going out to a party, or just an outing socialization is normally the order for the night well.. NOT IN 2010 my friend, trying to get someone's attention when they are GLUED to their Blackberry is the main activity of the night... when u go to the club and see people on the dancefloor, it is some form of movement with their eyes locked in to the screen of the phone.. sigh* i want to know what 2015 will look like ... also, i think that how many car accidents are caused; due to the people trying type a message while driving .. one more thing, people at a dinner table and their is no communication or conversation among them, eyes down looking at the screen because the that convo seems to be more important than face to face communication .. double sigh on that one ..

Facebook addicts are more tolerable but when the homepage is taken up by ONE person it kinda gets annoying and when that same person updates their status every 5 mins thats even more annoying .. yes facebook can be addicting and time consuming but just BILL .. people don't need to know what u are doing every moment u are awake ... chu! .. if thats the case get Twitter .. i could go further into detail but i will just relax ...

as for myself i think my actions just touch both categories but not full on like some people (I will not call any names for now) :p ...

Calvin Harris, an artist

Calvin Harris, I wouldn't go as far as Emma to say that he is a GOD but his music is of quite a high standard.. his ability of producing Dance/Trance beats and adding his vocals to it is quite a talent.. he has been out for a while now and his popularity has surged in the last couple years, but to some he his still unknown ... two thumbs up on this song and some of the remixes he has with Tiesto and Deadmau5 ...

His album "Ready For The Weekend" gets a 4.5 star rating from me and it is worth the download.. best songs from it are: "The Rain", "Stars Come Out", "I'm Not Alone" and "Flashback" .. trust me on this one, its worth the listen...

Going Home? No... we going to BK

Ok so if u are in Jamaica or been to Jamaica visiting a friend from college you will know this act. I would like to know who or what started the trend of going to Burger King after a party or club or even if you are on the road in the early hours of the morning....

It has baffled me at time how EVERYONE you saw at the club ends up in Barbican at BK no matter where they live. Not only it is kind of dangerous it is bad for your health.. we all know this but we continue to do it (myself included, i'm normally the instigator lol) ... when we arrive we go and ask everyone in the car you want anything and the response will be "i'm on a diet" then 10 seconds later "get me a so and so" (i will not call names once again but you kno who u are :P) ...

some of us don't even eat when we go but we just love going and seeing the rubbish there.. one of the last times i went Grant and Randolph start fight in the parking, it wasn't a serious fight but everyone started to come out their cars and wonder what as going but not saying anything.. or the loud music from people's cars with everyone's radios simultaneously on ZIP FM or is it the security guard that NO ONE knows the name of knows everyone elses name and start to talk to you instead of protecting us ... so many things happen...

all those things make us love going to BK after the party ... whoever that made that Burger King 24 hours is a genius, the location is perfect for almost everyone ... no more pan chicken, KFC by JC trying a ting but its not gonna work lolol ...

Homes Of Hope

set up by my two friends Christina and Amanda this is a charity that helps suffering and under privileged families attain shelter. The project launched in July of 2009 and it was very successful where they and some very kind hearted volunteers built houses for under-privileged families in the Montego Bay area. in December of 2009 another project was put together with more volunteers as the project is getting bigger. a 3rd project is set to take place in July of this year (2010) in Montego Bay, Jamaica where they will be 2 more houses being built ..

The projects targets younger people in the teenage years to raise awareness and help out people and families that are less fortunate. as this grows there are some difficulties that arise like finding sponsorship and donations. any form of donation is welcomed and it would be good for people to give back to the society to help support a brother and a sister.

Fenech-Who?

ok, so due to my friend i got a buss on this band from England named Fenech-Soler ... they are in the kinda Indie/Alternative/Electro music ... yes quite a genre lol ... but i think they are worth the listen and you should be on the look out for them ..

not many people are into this type of music but i think it is on the rise and people should have an ear for it as it may become big and you are lost in the transition ...

recommended songs: "Lies", "Stop and Stare", and "I Need Love" .. there are others but just listen to those first :) ...
